Just a few hours from Malaga, lies the Moroccan and African city of Tangier, where East meets West. Crossing the Strait of Gibraltar, we move rapidly toward the shadow of the mystic continent – AFRICA.

(Crossing time approx. 50 minutes)

suddenly there lies before you the shimmering city of Tangier. The small flatroofed houses, the sprawling bazaars, the prayer towers, the bearded men in their flowing robes and the veiled women, yes suddenly you are immersed in Eastern culture. During the course of the day you will have the opportunity to ride a camel, watch a snake charmer and visit the kasbah and the Zooks which are Arab markets where you can bargain over prices of leather goods, brass and other locally made merchandise.

At lunch, enjoy a typical folklore music show and one of the may national dishes of Morocco. Departure for the Costa del Sol will be in the afternoon and you will arrive at the Hotel in the evening.

GRANADA

Climbing up into the mountains that surround Malaga, we make our way toward the famed city of Granada. At the foot of the Sierra Nevada lies Granada, a city steeped in history of the ancient Moors. Once inside the great Palace of the Alhambra, you will feel as if you have been transported into another century as you wander through the Lion’s Court, the Room of Secrets and the exquisitely beautiful Generalife Gardens filled with fountains and flowers. One can almost hear the sounds of laughter and music of the princes and their courtesans.

Just across from the Alhambra is Sacromonte, the old part of the city which houses Spain’s largest congregation of gypsies.

After lunch at a first class restaurant, some time will be given for wandering on your own or to do a little shopping before returning to the coast.

RONDA

A drive through the rugged Serrania de Ronda will bring you to a broad open plateau surrounded on all sides by jagged mountains. In the centre of this plateau situated on an enormous outcrop of rock, stands the town of Ronda. In the pastures that surround the town, bulls and horses are bred whilst the town itself is the home of the oldest and most picturesque bullring.

The centre of town is split by a 400 foot chasm and spanning it is Ronda’s famous New Bridge built in the 18th century. Wander across the bridge and you are in La Ciudad (old town) inhabited in old days by groups of marauding bandits. During the course of the day you will also see the town’s impressive Cathedral.

Lunch is included at a first class restaurant and you may expect to be back in the Hotel in early evening.

SEVILLE

An attractive drive through the checkered landscape of green and brown brings us to the heart of Andalucia, to Seville, the cultural centre of the province. This is the home of the well known painters Murillo and Velazquez, the famous writer became a popular form of bravado.

It is a self governing British colony and the official language is English, although Spanish is widely spoken.
